TL;DR: We don't track you, we don't sell your data, and we don't store your browsing history. We only collect the bare minimum information required to provide the service.

PodKit values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with. PodKit is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and other applicable privacy laws and regulations. This Privacy Policy (Policy) describes how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and how we maintain the quality and security of your personal information.

What is personal information?

“Personal information” means any information or opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. In general terms, this includes information or an opinion that personally identifies you either directly (e.g. your email) or indirectly.

What personal information do we collect and hold?

The personal information we collect includes:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name

Anonymous metadata may be logged to keep track of usage. For example, non-identifiable website analytic data (browser type, session time, etc), or statistics on how many times our service has been used.

How do we collect your personal information?

We collect your email address when you sign-up. If you sign-up using your Google account, we also collect your first and last name.

How do we use your personal information?

We use your personal information to:

  • Personalize the emails we send you
  • Send you emails about your account, and new product features
  • Personalize the name of your podcast feed

Your personal information is used strictly to deliver the PodKit service, and is never shared or resold to any third party (we hate spam too!).

How do we protect your personal information?

PodKit will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by:

  • Having robust system & database security
  • Taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you

Do you track the websites I browse?

No. We do not track the websites you browse. We do not collect information about the websites you visit or the content of those websites.

However, if you choose to create an audio summary of a particular website by clicking the "Listen to Summary" button, the URL and visible text from that website will be sent to our servers. This is necessary to generate the audio summary.

Is data from websites I summarize ever shared or sold?

No, we never share or sell data to third-parties. In order to provide the service, text from any website you summarize will be sent securely to OpenAI's API server, who follow a strict privacy policy.
